Dog friendly apartments must have some large area outdoors where your pet can have a good time. Dogs do need to let loose at times and that includes running and playing. It would be good if that open area is also grassed to allow good play between you and your dog. There is nothing sweeter to a dog than being able to lie around and role all over the place, run and feel free. Apartments can have walking trails for its residents, but it is not a must that they do. But dog friendly apartments should be in close proximity to areas which where you can walk your dog safely. These walking areas could be a walking path in the woods, trail around the park. Walking your dog is a vital part of being a good dog owner, so your apartment should make it easy for you to tend to this task every day.
3. Near A Dog Park
Sometimes, your dog wants to get off their leash. You may want to play a game of fetch with them outdoors, or just let them run and play with other dogs. This can be be hard to do in an apartment complex that doesn't have a designated dog run or dog park. These fenced areas provide a safe environment for you to unclip your dog's leash and let them have some fun without worrying about them running out into traffic or chasing after a cat and getting lost. Just make sure that your dog is well behaved enough to be around the other dogs that will likely be in the dog run.
You shouldn't take every apartment complex at their word when they say they are dog friendly. Instead, do your research and make sure that they offer the amenities listed above.
