Dogs have been used by hunters for centuries. They have been used to sniff out weapons and drugs, they have been used to find dead bodies also. Some people may say yeah, dogs have super smelling. But did you know that there are a few things which will deter a dog from finding a scent simply because dogs hate smelling these things. Lets check them out.
Have you ever taken a couple whiff off a few mothballs? These balls are extremely pungent especially when they are in an enclosed area. Dogs dislike the strong smell of mothballs and will try to avoid smelling these little white balls at all cost. Some dog owners have used these balls to deter the dog from going into areas they deemed sensitive and do not want their dogs to maybe damage.
We humans all love most citrus fruits. We enjoy nice cold glass of orange juice. We enjoy eating grapefruits and so on. But as much as how we love Citrus fruits, dogs simply hate it. They have not proven why dogs don't like citrus but it's probably similar to why us humans have specific scents that we prefer over others. You can use citrus fruit oil to deter dogs from areas you don't want them to go or cover up other scents you probably don't want your dog to smell.
