Who came up with such a question? Humans will more likely make a dog sick. But for a few of us walking two legged species called mankind, we may have a few health issues as it relates to handling dogs.

Dog Dander Allergy.
Dander is material shed from the body of humans and animals that have fur, hair, or feathers. The term is similar to dandruff, when an excess of flakes becomes visible. The proteins found in a pet's dander, skin flakes, saliva and urine can cause an allergic reaction or aggravate asthma symptoms in some people.  Allergic dander in cats and dogs is not affected by length of hair or fur, nor by the amount of shedding. 

But for some people with allergic reaction to dog dander there are treatments and solutions available if you think having a dog will make you sick.

1. Get a dog with little to near no shedding.
There are some breed of dogs that shed a lot and requires excess grooming and dander control while there are others that basically are groom free and sheds little dander if any.

2. Practice Good Dander Control

• Give your pooch good supplements of Omega 3 Fatty Acids. Omega 3 Fatty Acids are very good nutritional supplements for dogs. They help with skin conditions, allergies, kidney function, lymphoma, heart disease, cognitive function, arthritis, and more.

• Feed Your Dog Healthy Diet. You don't want your dog getting ill and having any type of skin irritation or anything which will affect the dogs overall health. Ensure that the animal maintains a healthy and rich diet of meat mostly.
  
  
• Use Anti Dandruff Shampoo to Bath Your Dog. Just like with us humans who suffer from dandruff and we seek some kind of natural or medicated shampoo to curtail the dandruff. You can do the same for your dog. There are medicated shampoos available that will help with dog dander so a dog wont make you sick. And there is also natural anti dandruff shampoo available such as a soothing oatmeal dog shampoo.
  
  
• Use a Humidifier In Your Home. What is a humidifier? Humidifier therapy adds moisture to the air to prevent dryness that can cause irritation in many parts of the body. Humidifiers can be particularly effective for treating dryness of the skin, nose, throat, and lips. They can also ease some of the symptoms caused by the flu or common cold.

Dogs Can Carry Germs That Make You Sick.
Dogs are generally safe to have around, but pet owners must be aware that there are some germs which can pass from dogs to humans which can contribute to a person becoming ill, even if this is a very rare occasion.  Illnesses can range from minor to major as it relates to germs being passed from dog to human making them sick. Remember dogs are dogs and dogs do what dogs do naturally. Especially if you are living with more than one dog, there are precautions you must take not to make your dog get you ill.

Dogs will Lick and Smell.
Dogs will lick anything off another dog. They lick their own genitals and they will lick other dogs genitals and butt. Some dogs have even been known to eat their own poop. Now if your dog or another dog has some kind of disease and the dog licks up and eats that disease and then licks you on the mouth or skin, chances are you may contact some kind of infection. Please note that this is not common but can happen and has happen to a few dog owners. So always take the precautions listed below when dealing with your dog.

1. ​Ensure your dog has good and routine vet care
2. Keep hands clean with soap and water after having contact with dogs. Especially if you handle their poop.
3. Always have a bottle of hand sanitize ready.
4. Avoid having your dog lick your face or mouth.​

Having a Dog is not To Be Feared.
I myself is the owner of two dogs and a cat. They are wonderful pets to have and I have never been made sick by my dogs or cat.  Dogs provide so much support for a lot of people. They provide great companionship and comfort.  Dogs have such a wonderful impact on millions of lives worldwide. They promote relaxation and has even been helpful in reducing anxiety and stress.  Not to mention the kids and how they love having a dog around. Dogs help to promote physical activities in children by play. ​They are sometimes the center of attraction in many households and helps brings the family closer. Overall dogs are safe house pets and contributes a million times more to fostering good health in a family or single owner than making us sick.

​The first time I heard one of my dogs sneezed it took me by surprise. As a matter of fact, I didn’t even know that dogs sneezed. So one early Sunday morning at about 3: am. My dogs were sleeping in the garage as they always do when I heard a huge sneeze. I jumped out of bed immediately and wondered what the heck was that, if someone else was in the garage. But I know that would be highly unlikely as my dogs would have alerted me or taken care of business themselves. So I got up, turned on the lights and looked through the window and saw one of my dogs sneezed again. The dog sneezed three times and stopped. That was it. But later down in dog ownership life, I have experienced a few more dog sneezing and I have written down some conditions which I believe have contributed to them sneezing. 

1, Dog Caught a Cold
Yes, in certain times such as rainy or winter times, it is imperative that you keep your dog as warm as possible. Outdoor dogs naturally will have to spend less time outdoors and should not be allowed to run exploit play with owner in the rain. Your dog can catch a cold which may lead to light runny nose and sometimes dog sneezing.

2, Dog has Food Allergies
Contrary to popular belief, some canines can’t eat everything even though they will try to. There are some dogs which have allergies to various kinds of foods such as the most common allergens are beef, dairy, wheat, egg, chicken, lamb, soy, pork, rabbit, and fish. Yes, all the juicy meats your dog dreams about daily. But the thing is that they may not be allergic all these meats at the same time.

The possibility is that they may be just allergic to one or two meat type, or allergic to one or two vegetable time. Some common signs of food allergy in dogs are: Excessive itching, vomiting, Sneezing, Swelling of the face, ears, lips, eyelids, or ear-flaps, diarrhea, hives, swelling of face, including eyes, ears, etc. Red inflamed skin and itchy ears. Allergies in dog is most likely a genetic thing. You simply can’t determine of a particular breed will have food allergies unless the dogs parents or probably grandparents also had the allergies. Or if the medical record shows this type of condition in the dog.

If you suspect food allergy, trace back to what’s new you have introduced into the dog’s diet and cut that out and observe the animal. You may also have to do an overall assessment of the dogs diet which will include changing meats and doing away with soy and wheat.
 
3. Smelled Something Too Strong For Nose
Dog’s noses are very sensitive organs and their sense of smell is off the chart. One thing one should not do is to spray anything strong around your dog. This can be perfumes or insecticides. Strong perfumes can trigger sneezing in your dog. Insecticide can trigger sneezing and a whole bag of bad ailments which no real dog owner wants for their dog. Your dog may have also sniffed a strong smelling plant or has gotten pollen up in his nose.
 
4. Some Insect Crawled In Your Dogs Nose.
An ant or bug may have just either lost its way or crashed in your dog’s wet smelling organ. This can trigger the dog’s natural defense which is sneezing to flush out the nose crasher. You dog will pop a few sneezes out to get rid of the unwelcome visitor.

5. Sniffed Up Some Dirt, Dust or Debris
It is no secret that dogs use their nose a lot when it comes to sniffing. They will sniff just about any and everything to try and ascertain what is going on. Dogs sniff to determine if something is alive or dead, they sniff to determine if something is food, they sniff to ascertain the scent of people and objects which they lock on to for life. Dogs will dig dirt and many dogs use their noses to shove dirt inside holes they dug to bury bones and their owners new slippers. Sometimes dust and dirt will get in those sensitive nose triggering a bit of sneezing.

 
When Should You Be Concerned About Your Dogs Sneezing?
You have to play the watching game a little. Normally if the sneezing goes away in a few minutes or so your dog is fine. It’s the dog’s natural immune system working. But if the sneezing is caused by food allergies which brings other severe symptoms as mentioned above. It is a good idea to take your dog to the vet as food allergies can be dangerous and life threatening. If you realize that it is just caused from a common cold such as dog playing in the rain for too long, simply get the dry, nice and warm and make him some soup. Sniffing perfumes and flowers that trigger sneezing is a one off thing and your pet should be OK after a few sneezes. If you have low riding plants that your dog continues to smell triggering sneezing, try blocking off those plants or move them to higher ground. Also do not spray perfumes near your dog or any other air born chemicals such as air fresheners or insecticides.
 
Home Remedies for Allergies?
Treating your dog for sneezing and other symptoms of food allergies at home is not difficult. But you must maintain care and proper procedures as to any over the counter medication you have purchased for your dog.

Antihistamines.
Benadryl, Claritin and Zyrtec are commonly used antihistamines that relieve allergy symptoms or counteract allergic reactions. Antihistamines are usually safe but will make some dogs drowsy and others hyperactive. The most commonly used is Benadryl.

The standard dosage for oral Benadryl is 1 mg per pound of body weight, given 2-3 times a day. Most drug store diphenhydramine tablets are 25 mg, which is the size used for a 25 pound dog. Remember to Always double check the dosage before giving an over the counter medication. In addition, many formulations are combined with other medications such as Tylenol so make sure Benadryl tablets contain only diphenhydramine.

Relieving Some Allergy Symptoms

1. Give The dog an oath bath if the dog is itching. Simply boil the oath straws and add it to your dog bath to reduce itching.
2. Use apple Cider vinegar as a s diluted spray to get rid of trapped pollen which contribute to your dog sneezing. Pollen can be caught in your dogs fur or paws, then the dogs use these pollen riddled nose on its face triggering a sneezing reaction.

Oral Benadryl is considered a mild to moderately effective antihistamine, but If your pet is having an acute allergic reaction with facial swelling or difficulty breathing, skip the oral medications and go straight to the vet. Many allergic diseases require a combination of allergy medicine for dogs and treatment of underlying infections; if your pet is not responding to their prescription pet medication, talk to your vet for other options.
