Rhinoceros Vs Hippo - Who Would Win?

Animals are great, and are spectacular to observe in their own habitats. We have many animals that are quite powerful, if many of them should go on a one on one combat, the results would be amazing. Lets take a simple look at two of wildlife's most powerful animals and compare their combat and survival skills and see who would win in ANIMAL ONE ON ONE!

The Rhino

Rhinos are massive, they can weigh over 5 tonnes and many stand at nearly 6 ft tall.  They travel at speeds at 31 miles per hour and can live up to at least 55 years. These are Africa's giants. They have thick skin and hard sharp tusk on their faces which can do massive damage to any animal. Talking about being angry, Rhino's are a no non sense kind of animal. They don't want you nor any other animals in certain distance of them and once they spot or think they spot you, you can be sure that this massive herbivore is ready to trample you to the ground. Rhino's do not have a magnificent eye sight, but they make up for that with strong hearing and a good sense of smell. These are walking ninjas!

The Hippo

The hungry hippo is one more sumo out of the jungles of Africa. The hippo can weigh up to 4 tonnes, can travel at speeds of 19 miles per hours and has a lifespan of up to 50 years. The Hippo's  plump and bulky body is set on short, stumpy legs which means it has no capability of using its feet in a battle except to run. Like the Rhino, hippos are a no nonsense type of animal too. Normally when you look on animal documentaries, you see the hippo slouching along in a pond and bossing up the gators telling them to move to the other side! that is how respected the hippo's are, even gators know when a bigger boss is around.  The hippo has a bite force of measured at a a killer 1821 pounds per square inch. That force can crush the strongest bone like how you could break a toothpick between your fingers. One other thing to note also is the hippos massive canine tooth which can measure up to 1.6 feet in length. You would not want those bad boys in you at all.

Rhino VS Hippo

Hippo Battle Facts

  • Long strong canines capable of piercing thick hides
  • extremely powerful jaws with a bite of 1821 pounds per square inch
  • charges at 19mph coming in at 1 tonne less than the rhino
Battle Analysis
The rhino will have a distinctive battle advantage over the hippo because it over powers the hippo with its weight, is capable of inflicting a quick and deadly strike with its massive tusk. It is also much faster on land than the hippo. The hippo only advantage is to try and get its first bite in on the rhino's legs as this is probably the only way to defeat this rampaging rhino. Overall, the rhino comes out on top when it comes on to battling with the hippo on land.
