Pangolin is not a fruit as many people thought. It is actually an unusual mammal. Pangolins belong to the ant eater family.  They are scaly ant eaters of the order Pholidota. The one extant family, Manidae, has three genera: Manis, which comprises four species living in Asia; Phataginus, which comprises two species living in Africa; and Smutsia, which comprises two species also living in Africa.  
They are the only mammals wholly-covered in scales and they use those scales to protect themselves from predators in the wild.

Pangolin Gestation Period

• Ground pangolin: 139 days
•  Indian pangolin: 68 days
• Tree pangolin: 127 days 

Female pangolins have a gestation period of five months and give birth to just one live baby. At birth, babies, called pangopups, are only about 6 inches (15.24 cm) long and weigh 12 ounces (340 grams), according to the African Wildlife Foundation. Their scales are pink and soft, but start to harden after a day.

Pangolin LifeSpan
The lifespan of a pangolin in the wild is unknown as they are shy creatures and are, therefore, quite difficult to study. However, some have been recorded to live as long as 20 years in captivity


Pangolins Eats 
Pangolins eat ants, termites and larvae and are often known as "the scaly anteater." Because they have no teeth, pangolins pick up food with their sticky tongues, which can sometimes reach lengths greater than the animal’s body.

Pangolins and Poaching
They certainly are one of the most trafficked mammals in Asia and, increasingly, Africa. Pangolins are in high demand in countries like China and Vietnam. Their meat is considered a delicacy and pangolin scales are used in traditional medicine and folk remedies. All eight pangolin species are protected under national and international laws. But there is still growing international illegal trade in pangolins.
Based on reported seizures between 2011 and 2013, an estimated 116,990-233,980 pangolins were killed, which represents only the tip of the trade. Experts believe that seizures represent as little as 10 percent of the actual volume in pangolins in illegal wildlife trade.

Pangolin and Corona Virus
It has been that people who have eaten the Pangolin meat ahve contracted the Corona Virus and the Pangolin is a natural carrier of the Virus. If so, is it a way for the harmless Pangolin to get revenge on us humans who eat its meat and hunt it and kill it for its tough armor? 

1. Chicken
The all famous chicken meat loved by millions worldwide. This one is simple. Chicken meat comes from our beloved little clucker chicken. Chicken meat is also cut in various parts of the chicken such as leg, thigh, breast and wing.
Beef – Beef unusually comes from the one animal that we all love to milk, the cow. But it also comes from the bull or ox.

2. Steak
 A steak is a meat generally sliced across the muscle fibers, potentially including a bone. Some animals which steak can come from are bovines which includes cow, Buffalo, ox. Steak can come from deer also.

3. Pork
Did someone say oink oink oink. Well, pork is one meat we simply love to sink our meat eating teeth in. Pork comes from the pig and this meat as various cuts also. Pig meat is also cured to make the world famous pork ham.

4. Duck Meat
As the name suggest. Meats from duck is called duck meat. There are many kinds of ducks and you may end up having a juicy Peking duck in your plate one day.
 
5. Veal
Veal is the meat produced from calves. Basically it is young animal meat. So instead of eating a mature cow, you decide on eating the little offspring.
 
6. Venison
The meat from Antelope, Deer or Elk.

7. Mutton
bah bah black sheep have you any mutton? Yes replied the sheep. I am full of it. Sheep meat is called mutton. But if you eat a baby sheep it is called Lamb meat.
 
8. Fish
Fish meat is simply called fish. No matter what kind of fish you are consuming. Yes, you may say you had snapper, bass or sardine. But at the end of the day you simply had fish meat.
 
9. Goat Meat
The meat from goats is called goat. So when ever you decide on consuming goat, ensure that you have some nice turmeric and curry as it goes well with these seasonings.

10. Oxtail
Oxtail is a Jamaican favorite meat. It is normally consumed with rice and peas. Oxtail comes from the tail of Cows or Bulls.
 
11. Rabbit Meat
What’s up doc? “Well a stew is what’s up rabbit”. The meat from rabbit is called rabbit meat. Not bugs as many people thought!
 
12. Turkey
Turkey meat, commonly referred to as just turkey, is the meat from turkeys, typically domesticated turkeys but also wild turkeys.
 
13. Goose Meat
Meat from Goose is called goose meat. It is much more robust in texture than chicken or turkey and may prove to be a bit more difficult to prepare for the not so good cooker.
 
14. Alligator/Crocodile Meat
The meat from alligators is called alligator meat and the meat from crocodile is called crocodile meat.

15. Dog Meat
No one is going to eat my little pooch! But fact is that millions of people indulge in dog eating. The meat from dogs is called dog meat.

16. Cat Meat
Somehow the consumption of cats is not as famous as that of dogs. But for those who do consume cat the meat of cat is called cat meat.

17. Rat Meat
There are several health reasons why no one should be eating rats. But for the many who indulge in this mad habit, the meat of rat is simply rat meat.

18. Tenderloin
The most tender cut of beef is the beef tenderloin and it is found within the loin. This is where we get filet mignon, which is made from the very tip of the pointy end of the tenderloin. Chateaubriand is made from the center cut of the tenderloin. The tenderloin extends from the short loin into the sirloin
 
19. Ham
Ham is pork from a leg cut that has been preserved by wet or dry curing, with or without smoking. As a processed meat, the term "ham" includes both whole cuts of meat and ones that have been mechanically formed
 
20. Human Meat
Cannibalism still exist as we speak. The meat from human being is called human meat. As sick as it may sound, there are many people who secretly indulge in eating of human flesh.

21. Sausage
Sausages are grounded meat. You can make any kind of sausage from any meat product. But most sausages are made of chicken or pork.
