Animal Experimentation And Testing
Nearly all cases when animals are used in scientific researches they are used to conduct mild to severe experiments. One of the most used test in Animal Testing is the Drug Reaction Test. Scientist have used and disposed of many animals that have gone through different forms of drug testing. They will use the animals to predict toxicity of a drug, effectiveness and side effects. Have you ever heard the term lab rat or Guinea pig, well these are literal terms used and these were some of the most used animal in lab testing and animal experimentation. Many new drug and medication that you see being advertised have been tested on hundreds of animals and even people. The people test is a whole different story. Normally before a cure or drug is tested on a human, a animal is infected with the ailment and then the cure is tested on that animal and all reactions are documented. If the side effects are mild and the animal lives and recovers somewhat, then a safety percentage is calculated for the testing on human volunteers or poor sick needy people, mainly in third world countries.
Drug Enhancement Testing
They cant seem to give these animal a break. After the animals of course unwillingly participate in their animal testing cruelty types of acts. They are then chosen to test the drug once more after enhancement. So the scientist have on record what this particular drug does and how it reacts and its many side effects. They decide to enhance the drug by probably adding another component or increase a particular component. They will need to test this enhanced drug and here comes whitey micey to be used.
Medical Device Testing
So some genius comes up with a medical device designed to save millions of lives, well in theory that is. But surety only comes when that medical device is tried and tested. The main focus of using animals to test medical devices is see how the device operates with living tissue without damaging the tissue in any way. This term is called bio-compatibility. The human tissue is quite sensitive and delicate and will react to material foreign to it. Materials that have been tested and are know to be bio-compatible are ceramic and stainless steel. Once these materials are being used in the medical devices, the animals can breath a brief sigh of release as their flesh would not be called upon in this experiment. But if the medical device is equipped with a foreign material, then incomes Mr. Monkey to make a sacrifice for what many say is the good of a million people.
It is believed that the reason why scientist use animals for testing is that animals react almost the same too any drug as humans. They are given the dosage in proportion to the animals age and weight. It is said that little suffering comes into effect which is quite far from the truth. The past decide have proven that animals will react quite unpredictably to many of these drug used in their testings. When they use a animal for toxicity testing, the animal suffers immensely, some die slow and painfully while others even instantly. Many of these animals are normally tested on with even the common anesthesia. So it is either they believe that animals don't feel pain or they are just some sick bastards who love to watch animals suffer and die. This type of behavior leaves me to ask a few questions. Are these procedures actually validated and lawful. Is there any board that has set policies and procedures of how these animals should be used and treated. Are there any regulatory boards for these sort of activities or once the big bucks is spent to get these animals and locked behind closed high security doors its just anything goes?
Direct Animal Mutilation experiments
How many of you have heard the term Animal Hybrid or hybrid Animal. Well, this is when scientist take the chromosomes from one animal, say a chicken and then introduces that chromosome to the chromosome of say an eagle. Now that could be called a "chiceagle or Eagken". That may not be such a wonderful bird to have around. The fact is that many cross breeding done by man in labs have gone horribly wrong. many of these animals after being cross bred offspring's are born dead or born with alarming defects, the animal may live a few days and then suffers and dies. What they public gets are small success out of many horrific failures from animal testing cruelty. You see Ligers, Zonkey and many more.
What To Do?
The world know about the mutilation that these animals face inside labs, but what can we do about such a activity. Many would ask the question; so how will they test cures and drugs, isn't it better for a rat to die than a child? Well as a vivid animal lover that i am and believe that a life is a life, we have to be real about one thing. No one in this world would put a rats life over their sick child. Many husbands wants a cure found for cancer and like wise many wives. millions of humans are dependent on the drugs produced by these labs to go on living day by day, but a completely clueless as to how many animals are sacrificed for the betterment of human beings. It is a cruel situation, but is this is just one type of cruelty which the world accepts?
