The fastest bird and the fastest member of the animal kingdom with a diving speed of 389 km/h (242 mph). That is like firing a bullet into a body of water. Compare that to Cheetah's run and the cheetah would be left wondering what happened.
The fastest land animal is the cheetah, which has a recorded speed of 109.4–120.7 km/h (68.0–75.0 mph). That my friend is fast! Have you ever been in a car travelling at 120 km/h? That can take you places. The Cheetah owes its speed to its great aerodynamic body design. Small head able to cut through the wind, long stretch and spring legs which are capable of magnificent leaps and speeds, and of course it tail for balancing corners when chasing fast preys such as the gazelle.
Sorry, you may not be getting any Hare soup today if you simply cannot catch one of these lightening hoppers. The Brown Hare’s long back legs enable them to reach speeds of 77kph (48mph), the same speed as their predator the red fox. This makes the brown hare one of the fastest animals on EARTH!
While the marlin is still not the fastest swimmer around, it can swim at 80kph (50mph). Seriously doubt that this fish is worried about sharks catching it as it would just taunt and flash.
With a long pointy nose and fins which looks like a cape from a longtime batman film, the Sail Fish can travel at speeds of 110kph (68mph)! Sorry aqua man, looks like the sea has a new speed star.
So you thought the king of the jungle was slow huh? Well I will have you know that the lion can run at speed of up to 80km/h, tht is about 50 miles per hour. The same as the blue wildebeest. So the next time you think you can put on your track shoes and go Safari in Africa and try to out run a lion, chances are your femur will be in it's jaws very quickly. With that said, the lion is also one of the fastest animals on earth.
If the Cheetah is the fastest land animal, then the Pronghorn Antelope is the second fastest. It can reach speeds of up to 98kph. Making it a difficult catch for even the fastest predator.
Talk about king of the skies and you are looking at the frigate bird. This bird has the greatest wingspan to body weight ratio of any bird. It can travel at top speeds of 153 kph (95mph). It is believed that the bird can stay aloft (in the sky) for more than a week at a time. To me, that is just crazy!
Gobble Gobble. Wait that is turkey not goose. Anyway, this large goose can fly at top notch speeds of 142 kph or 88mph. This is amazing speed for such a large bird.
A nice meal for the king of the jungle. Sorry gazelle, you are. This animal is capable of speeds of 50 mph or just about 80kph. Same as the Lion and the Blue Wildebeest. Thomson's gazelle has it really hard in the wild has they have to be running from the world's fastest land animal, the Cheetah. This can be quite an exhausting task.
