Pets are wonderful to have around. Apart from the conventional cat, dog, hamster, spider and parrots, there are other great animals which makes wonderful pets, especially those that many of us have on the farms. Here is my list of farm animals that makes wonderful pets.

1. Ducks

Don't get all quacked up on this one! OK, maybe some of you got that duck joke. But ducks are one of the coolest farm animal pets any one could ask for. How cool you ask? Well ducks are so dynamic that they are capable of living on both land and water. These little birds are fun to watch and grow. Who ever said ducks are ugly simply did not have a clue. These cute feather shakers are adorable and if you are worrying about duck care, well, ducks do not often need medical care and birds rarely get ill.  So lets go quacking and pick up a couple of ducks as pets.

2. Sheep

Baa Baa Mr Sheep have you any wool? Well, sheep are producers of wool and they also make great pets. Having a sheep as a pet is a total plus for you. Sheep like many other pets needs grooming, that grooming means shearing the wool from that sheep. Wool fetches a nice little price on the market and you can profit nicely if you have hundreds of sheep. Sheep are also wonderful grazers and produce sweeter milk than cows. But the number one thing that makes a sheep a good pet is that they are warm and cuddly and if you count them they will put you to sleep!

3. Pig

Don't believe everything you hear, Pigs are very smart animals and would never build their house out of straw nor hay. Pigs are able to respond to many commands which a dog is able to do and may just go neck to neck with a dog when it comes on to learning tricks. So apart from a little mud splashing now and then, you have a lot of pork chops to hug.

4. Pony

My little pony, my little pony.....i just can't seem to get that song out of my head when i hear the word pony. Ponies make great pets and the fun just never seem to stop with these miniature horses. Ponies comes in many different colors and even sizes, some pony are smaller than others. You can have fun with your pony by grooming and dressing the animal. Especially the female pony. The greatest part of having a pony as a pet is that you get to ride it also.

5. Chicken

I know it me maybe difficult for some of you to keep a chicken as a pet because you keep thinking words like "fried, baked, Bar-B-Que" and other words that literally scare the life out of your chicken. But chicken are more than just meat on our plates. Chicken also make wonderful pets, they are easy to care for also. All you need is a Good chicken coop, some nice chicken and you are done. But did you know chickens can help you floss? I have been a pet owner for many years now and have had a couple chickens in the mix. I used a couple of those chicken to help me floss. Whenever i eat something and it gets stuck between my teeth, i will just pick up my chicken, open my mouth wide and she would just look for anything stuck in my teeth and pick it out. Pretty cool chicken feature. The next reason chickens make great pet is because they also help to keep the insect level minimal.
