5 Weird Things My Cat Does

Picture
1. Hunch her back and rubs on my legs
So my cat is feeling quite emotional
He hunches his back and rubs to and fro on my legs, quite theatrical
Sometimes he may let out a few drowsy purrs
Just wanting to be lifted, pampered, just like a patient to a nurse
This is how she tries to get my attention, by acting real cute
But what can i say, i fall for it every-time, hypnotized in a cute cat's loop

2. Jumps Up In My Lap To Sleep
So after my kitty chases the yarn, scratches the back of the sofa, and hisses at the little canary, she decides to cool off in my lap
As i sip on a cup of coffee, she jumps up, does a one or two meows, and decides to take a nap
Now how am i going to get up to use the bathroom? Why did this cat fall asleep in my lap?
Oh i wish she was awake right now, i don't believe i can hold it back
I don't want to disturb her, she looks so adorable sleeping
But to tell the honest truth, i think i already started peeing
Oh well, at least my cat is still in her sleeping trance
As for me, i will need a change of pants

3. Follows Me Everywhere
So today i woke up to find my cat slouched on top of my stomach, staring in my eyes
"Good morning to you too Tiger", a meow was her reply
So i got up and made my way to the bathroom, she ran in behind me
I got into a little drama there, as soap got in my eyes and nearly blinded me
I walk around the bed, the cat does what i do
one feet away from my heels, she sticks like glue
so what is up today, someone is possessive
You follow me everywhere, what is your objective
As usual, her reaction was a cute little meow, but it said a lot
she needed some cat time, and some food, i almost forgot
Now my feline is happier than ever, but still acts like my tail
Oh well, nice to have a cat as a bodyguard, i think I'll go check my mail.

4. Tries To Catch The Pigeons through The Glass Window
These pigeons must take my cat for a real goof ball
Because if they land on the ledge a hundred times, Tiger will come running to the glass window, scratching and all
They know they are safe, and just sits their with their backs turn
While my cat creates a tantrum,  poor little thing, no lessons learned
"Come now Tiger, you can't catch a pigeon through a glass window"
As I Stood there laughing with my hands akimbo
But as usual, my cat does not care, who knows, maybe one day he will paw through
But if that ever happens, someone may be having pigeon stew!

5. Stares Me Out Of My Sandwich

So what does me and my cat have in common? We both love tuna fish
I will make my sandwich, and place her food in her dish
But sometimes my cat likes to rush off his tuna in his plate and then stares down mine
Giving me those sad looking, kitty need caring, watery eyes
Even when i turn away, so i don't fall under her spell, She suddenly makes the same switch
Back looking in my eyes, for a taste of my Tuna Sandwich
Oh what the heck, she can have just a little piece
I just can't stand it when my kitty isn't pleased

How Often Should You Replace Your Cat's Litter box

4/20/2016

Comments

Have you ever sat and watched your cat licking itself, up down and everywhere? Well cats are quite sensitive when it comes on to their cleanliness (can't say the same about me) They love to stay clean and as such would expect their surroundings to remain clean also, especially their litter boxes.  Owners are required to change the litter, but how often may depend on a couple factors, factors such as:

  • The type of litter you use in the cats box
  • How many litter boxes are available to your cat
  • How many cats use the same litter box

Different Types Of Cat Litter

Statistics have shown that most cats prefer the fine grains of clumping cat litter because of  it's softer feel on the surface of the cat's paw. One other benefit of clumping litter is that it allows for easily scooping. Clumping litter also allows you to easily scoop the urine out of the box.  By taking away these waste regularly from the box, it will make your litter last longer i the box.

Clumping Vs Non-Clumping
Before the long awaited clumping litter was available, there was the non-clumping (sounds like a new dance move).

Non clumping litter had a few advantage and disadvantages, lets look at them:
 Advantages
  • Non-clumping cat litter is good at removing odors associated with cat urine because it has the ability to absorb relatively large volumes of urine
  • Good Odor Control - baking soda or charcoal helps to control unpleasant odors.
Disadvantages
  • As the litter becomes saturated,  urine will begin to settle at the bottom of the litter box.  Making the removal of soiled non-clumping litter difficult without changing the whole box.
  • Needs To be Replaced and Cleaned more often, at least one a week, sometimes even twice.

Clumping Cat Litter
Advantages
  • Clumping cat litters are those that are designed so that urine and feces can be removed easily from the box without having to empty the entire box.
  • The ability to scoop and remove soiled litter from the box means that the box stays cleaner longer
Disadvantages
None

What Should You Do If You Have Too Few Litter Boxes?
This is a easy answer question, as your options become more limited. You would have to either acquire more litter boxes or change your cat's litter much more often.  You must try and practice the plus one litter box rule. The plus one litter box rule says that cat owners should have at least one extra litter box than the number of felines he/she owns. So if you have 10 cats hat home, it is good to have at least 11 litter boxes available. If your home has several floors, and your cat is allowed access on all floors, provide a litter box for the cat on each floor. If the cat is well trained, he most likely will go to the litter box if there is only one.

So for a clumped litter for every single cat, it is recommended to change at least twice a month. If you are using non-clump litter in your box, cleaning should be done once per week. All this effort is doubled if you have more cats than litter boxes.  Remember that no matter the type of litter used, always practice consistent cleaning, if litter is allowed to fester for months without cleaning, you and your cat may begin to develop health issues. Remember that a healthy cat, is a happy cat.

Tabby Cats Relationship With Jesus and Muhammad

Tabby Cat With Muhammad
Tabby Cat With The M on Head
The name "tabby cat" brings to mind many different things to different people. The old phrase "alley cat" may come to mind with some people, you know, that cat you see in cartoons scouring the garbage cans at night, knocking over bin covers and howling horridly till someone throws an old boot or two down there.  Tabby cats have a very nosy character, they come and go as they please, stealing the biggest fish out of the kitchen if the door is left open. They are one of those cat breeds which were born rough and ready.
The Tabby in the Manger
Many may wonder about the famous "M" on the tabby cats forehead. The M goes way back in time, a time of the virgin Mary and the birth of her son Jesus in the manger. The legend says that baby Jesus became a bit fussy because he was cold. Then Mary asked the animals which also occupied the manager to come closer to Jesus and her to keep him warm.  The manager could not accommodate the gathering of the animals in one tiny spot, but a Tabby cat came in and laid next to baby Jesus and cossetted him with warmth. Mary smiled and was so grateful that she bestowed her own initial "M" on the Cat's Forehead.

Muhammad and the Tabby

So what's up with Muhammad and cats? Well, the Muslim simply loved cats. There is a story of how a cat was resting on the garment of Muhammad, then Mohammad had to go somewhere. He simply did not want to disturb his feline friend so he simply cut off the part of the garment which the cat was resting on.

A Cat Saved Muhammad's Life
Islam Legend speaks of how a poisonous snake was sent to do harm to the prophet, but little did the snake know that the prophet Muhammad was guarded by the pet he loved best, his cat. The cat managed to fight off the snake and saved Muhammad's life.  This made Muhammad find even more favor with the cat. Muhammad decided to bless that animal and gave the cat "landing on all fours" ability. In one of Muhammad's writing, he speaks of a woman who was being barbecued in hell for neglecting her cat an letting it starve to death. The cat found many favor with Muhammad. For that it was thought to believe that the "M" symbol on the forehead of the Tabby Cat is his own emblem. The "M" for Muhammad. It is a symbol to others that this is the animal of Muhammad and is sacred.  The cats are vastly respected in the Islamic world as cats are allowed to enter Mosques and leave as they wish.

Conclusion
Cats were always considered to be sacred and had some ties with the spiritual world. Do you believe Jesus and Muhammad knew the power of the cat and simply loved the energy that the animal brought. Do you believe the tabby cat's "M" on its forehead is for Mary or Muhammad? Or is it just nature forming a unique pattern. One thing is for sure, the cat is always a mysterious pet.
