We cat lovers spend a lot of money on toys we believe our cats will fancy, only to find a deep rejection of that toy by your cat who continues to chase that piece of string around. Cats are a bit difficult to please and will not just take a fancy to any piece of plastic you place in-front of them. There are some toys however which are engineered specifically to catch the attention of your feline. Here are some of the toys to consider:
Wand and Fishing Toys
These are very simple and basic toys which may be quite unappealing to us but i can tell you will be quite a captivator for your cat. Cats do not seem to tire of swiping things with their paws and hunting small pieces of fur. Remember that he natural instinct of cats is to hunt. Therefore, if your cat is spending all day indoors he, or she, has no outlet for these natural tendencies. The Wand or fishing toys consist of a simple stick with a small piece of fur or some feathers attached to the end of a piece of string. There are two versions to these fishing toys, the lightweight and the heavier type. The cats seem to enjoy the lightweight even more because of its flexible motions. This type of toy is certainly worth investing in, as not only will your cat derive huge amounts of pleasure from it, but it also allows you to spend some quality playtime with your pet.
Laser Pointers
Laser pointers have now been transformed from presentation pointers to cat toys. They make quite an amusement for most cats, i say most because it also depends on the temperament of your cat. If you cat is laser pointer crazy, he/ she will definitely have a blast at trying to hold down this tiny light dot.
Laser pointers are cheap and you can try one out to see if your cat becomes interested and amused by it.
Get a remote control mice or lizard and have your cat chase it all day in house. your cat will definitely have a blast with this device and not only that, so will you. Cats are natural hinters and will chase and catch small rodents and lizards.
Cloth Toys
When you buy a Cloth Toy for your cat, don't just purchase any of those dead old boring stuffed bunnies, Get cloth toy that has catnip that can also be replaced. Cloth toys which contain catnip are highly recommended. When looking for catnip toys, you may like to consider ones that are refillable, as the scent will not last long. However, typically these types of toy can be bought very cheaply, so you may find it less time consuming to buy new toys rather than find fresh catnip.
Other Small Toys
More small toys that I would recommend are ones that are set on coiled spring, as this is wonderful for batting and swiping. You are likely to find some scratching posts that have these kinds of toys attached; this is especially attractive to the cat and will encourage him, or her, to use the scratching post as well as the springy toys. These are just some of the toys that you may like to consider for your cat. Shop around and you will find other toys to try out for your cat.
Remember cats are not as playful as dogs and are less enthused. Once you find a toy you cat digs, one of your milestone has just been crossed. Happy toy hunting.
