Yes, they are cute, cuddly, sensitive, exotic and all that. Felines makes adorable pets for millions of people across the Globe and many more people have become quite interested in owning a cat.  But do they know what it really takes to have a cat as a pet and exercise that same responsibility with the cat as they would with a child or themselves? Well, let's look at what the cat ownership meter say about your cat ownership readiness. The meter is measured from 1-10 with ten being the highest.  Write down your score for each answer

Do you have the financial means to care for the cat?

Cats do have needs and since you are the potential owner, it is up to you to fulfil them. Cats will need, Food, shelter, Medication, Litter, Toys etc. You will of course have to visit the vet to ensure the animals’ health is ok. Now with all these forthcoming expenses. How would you rate yourself financially in taking care of your cat?
1-4 Poor
5-7 Satisfactory
8-10 Good

Will You Spend Quality Time with Your Cat?

Quality time does not mean that you pour out some cat food in the cats' bowl call his/her name and say "Bon Appetite.” Cats will need that special cuddle, that special talking to, that special body examination and of course, taking your cat for walks. Cats just like dogs need exercise as well. You can train your cat on a leash so you take the cat for walks and in that same breath, build a tighter bond between you and your feline friend.  Cats need to keep fit and healthy, as a cat owner you may have to devote some time to do a bit of cat playing. Play with them using the many active toys available. How would you rate yourself in spending quality time and care for your cat?

1-4 Poor
5-7 Satisfactory
8-10 Good

Will You Refurbish?

Seasoned cat owners know what it means to have a cat friendly home. Cat friendly homes are equipped with items for your cat such as scratching post, cat trees and any other fan-dangles which allow your cat to exercise its natural characteristics.
When you have discovered how to fit them into your home, there is one other thing you need to do when it comes to cat-friendly living, and that is cat proofing. If you decide to take home a cat, make sure to get rid of and be careful of things that could hurt or poison her - like some chemicals, cleaners, foods, medications and plants, among others.  How comfortable are you making changes to your home to accommodate your cat?

1-4 Poor

5-7 Satisfactory
8-10 Good

You will need to know add up the scores from all three questions and divide your answer by three (3). If you score is poor, you may need to rethink cat ownership until you can take proper care of this pet. If your score is satisfactory, you can go ahead and get your pet cat, but work on improving that score line. If your score is good, Kudos to you on being the next best cat owner.
