Cat Cleanliness - Cat Grooming Itself

Cat Self Grooming

Have you ever sat and watched your cat literally giving his/her self a saliva bath? You notice how your cat will sit, stand, lie down and just about any other  motionless stance and just keeps licking and grooming itself. You will see your cat go into some serious acrobatic positions just to get to some very tight spots which needs a bit of licking and scratching. The Cat is one animal which takes its cleanliness quite serious.
You see, when your cat wakes, it will spend a considerable amount of time licking or should i say grooming itself. Yes, you are not the only handsome and  smooth runner around here, your cat may be on target with that. They dig out any dirt particles stuck in their fur with their teeth and use their rigid like tongues to comb through their fur.  You often will see the cat using its for paws and doing what looks like a face wipe. But guess what? it actually is a face wipe. They wet their paws with their saliva and then use it to clean their faces. now if that is not cat cleanliness i don't know what is. They are actually in better hygienic stance than most person i know.....sad but true.

Is That How My cat Smells?
Sniff Sniff, what do you get when you smell your cats, most of us would answer would be, nothing. That's right, to our nose, cats are one of the more odorless animals. When i mean odorless i mean to the human nose of course, as we know animals have a greater sense of smell than humans do.  You will rarely smell a cats odor unless that kitty is not grooming himself or has a medical condition and is probably taken medication administered by the vet.
Some other reasons why cat may stop grooming his/herself is illness, old age or even being too fat to reach those really difficult curves and corners on its body. Normally when cats cannot groom themselves properly, it can lead to some health risk such as the accumulation of dried up urine or feces around those sensitive areas.

Going To The Bathroom
Let me state again, cats are clean animals and loves to see their litter box keeping empty and fresh.  What you will find is that if the litter box becomes full, meaning you are forgetting to empty and clean it (shame on you!). The cat may find other areas in your home to relieve itself. You just can't blame the cat for this, after all would you use a toilet that have been used and never flushed or cleaned? You would find another way to relieve yourself or flush and clean that dirty toilet right? Well it is no different with your cat
. They don't want to put their butt over a saturated litter box.

Jumping in The Mud Puddle
These proud and suttle felines are no lover of water, so they will try to keep clean the best way they know how, by simply grooming themselves. You wont find your cat seeing a mud puddle and dashing and splashing in it and doing the cat tango anytime soon. Once that cat feels like it is way dirty and knows that you will give him a bath, you will see him licking furiously just to try and avoid him looking like the picture above! You should not get in the habit of bathing your cat too regular, unless they are dirty to a point where you cant tell your cat different from the house mop. Or you are giving him a flea bath. They will keep themselves nice and clean.

If you decide to help groom your cat, why not do it while petting him and making him feel relaxed. The Four Paws Purple Love Cat grooming Mitten is a must for cat lovers who just loves to pet and groom their cat at the same time.
