Reasons Why Your Cat Will Sulk and Be Depressed

One thing for sure is that cats can be quite moody. But when your at sulks and looks as though it is in depression, it is time for you as the cat owner to take some actions.

So What Are The Main Reasons Why Cats Sulk Or Get Depressed?

1. It was disciplined
Most cat owners who have scolded their cat will notice a behavior in the animal called dignified sulk. This is when the cat is disciplined by its owner and the cat simply curls up and turns its back to its owner and will simply not respond to the owners call until it feels content with its own self.  Many animals have what we know in our self called pride and self esteem, so when i tell you that your pet cat has both, don't be surprised.

2. The Cat Is ill
Cats are generally active animals, even though they will sleep nearly half of the day. They are self reliant animals which takes pride in them maintaining themselves to an extent. If a cat realizes that it is not able to Jump as high as it used to or the house rat doesn't need to bolt to get the cheese and now simply walks past the cats nose.  The cat will know something is not right within itself and may just simply lie down and mope.

3. Something Was Taken Away
You know, cats are sometimes like dogs. They too become emotionally attached to objects and people.
Those objects could simply be a cat toy or a cat bed. The cut could also have lost his owner and like any other creature  which becomes emotionally attached to a living being will end up depressed and sulky.

4. It Lost It's Friend
If you have two or several cats and one has passed off, you may notice that you cat becomes withdrawn for a while. Don't go thinking that only humans get emotional over life lost. Animals will suffer the same feeling we do, the cat may just sit by himself in a corner quietly for a while, while not paying anything around him/her much attention.

What To Do If Your Cat Is Sulky And Depressed
You must obey the cat's wishes. Leave him be for a little while to see if he crosses that bridge by himself.

Continue to talk with your pet to get him back in the spirit of things.

Try giving the cat something bright and new that he may find interesting.

If depression continues to the point where you feel the animal will not make it through, bring in the cat to the vet.
