Why Dogs Randomly Pee On Things

Dog Urinating
Dog Peeing
Whether you have a big or small dog, they all need to relieve themselves. Yes, dogs do need to pee. But peeing to a dog is not merely a body's natural reaction for the need to excrete waste. Even without the natural need to excrete waste in the form of urine, your dog will just do it at certain spots around the yard or if you have a dog that can access vast amount of open area, makes it even better for him.

Dogs are animals, whether we want to believe it or not, they are descendants of the wolf and still maintains some natural instincts which are coded in their genetics. One of those natural instincts is to own territory. Yes, animals do invest in real estate, they generally mark the area which they are dominant in with their urine.  So if you have a large back yard and you see your dog urinating on that new tomato tree you just planted it is because he may see that plant as a foreign object that is new and is within his domain. He will therefore leave his scent on that plant to let it know whose urine is top urine around.

Dogs will also mark over other animals
Let us say you have a a couple dogs and a cat. If these animals are outside roamers you will notice a pattern in what takes place when they urine. If a female dog urines and a male dog spots her urine, he may venture to the spot where she had urine, give it a few sniffs and then leaves his mark over hers. The male dog would have done the same if the cat had also passed urine. This action is just another way to establish dominance, sort of like your dog saying "Only my urine should be smelled around here."

How much knowledge do you have about your canine pal? Well if you have little, here is a little booster to your brain of dog knowledge. I give you some cool dog facts.
  • You can become a werewolf if bitten by a dog!........OK, I was just kidding there. But dogs are descendants of wolves and you know what they say about wolves right?

  • Wait..Stop! You cant feed puppies dried food yet. Puppies are born deaf, blind and yes, toothless. They however do have that natural  sense of smell and will sniff out that titty for milk.

  • Talking about longevity. A  Australian Cattle dog live for over 29 years before passing away. May his doggy soul be in heaven.

  • Dogs see better at nights than people. Well, pretty much every mammal I know does. Human have really poor vision compared to animals of the wild.

  • Dogs make up a big part of your budget. The average lifetime ownership cost is approximately $ 15,000-$20,000 big ones.

  • Who says dogs can't play basket ball? The tallest dog in the world is Irish Wolfhound.

  • Watch out Superman. it is not you alone have a well tuned ear. Dogs ear are super sensitive and can pick of frequencies us humans cannot.

  • Super Sensitive Smell. I am beginning to think dogs are from another planet with all these super being attached to their attributes. But it is true, a dog can smell scents from miles away. That is why they make good trackers.

  • So some dogs are tall, others are huge. The English Mastiff is a giant compared to other dogs. It is in fact the largest dog breed in the world. Don't try to get into a wrestling match with this giant, you will be defeated!

  • Dogs bark, but some dogs don't. If you are the type of owner who wants a mime as a dog, then i give you the Basenji. This dog breed is the only dog that cannot bark.

  • We have tall dogs, huge dogs and now for the small dog. The Chihuahua is in fact the smallest dog breed to date.

  • Talking about survival stories. They say if walls could talk, but can you imagine if dogs could talk. Did you know two dogs survived the sinking of the Titanic? I would love to hear their story.

  • The Greyhound may take the role of Flash one day. The Greyhound is the 7th fastest land animal clocking speeds of 40-45 Mph.  It's slender body, tall legs and aerodynamic design simply makes it born to run.

  • Dalmatians are beautiful, but they are born without spots. The spots develop after a couple of weeks of maturity.

  • Americans love dogs. One in three families own one or more dogs.

  • If dogs could lift weights, they would be extra ripped. They have twice as many muscles used for movements as humans.

So how about that? These are some really cool facts to know about your dog and other dogs too. After all, they are our pets and we should always be in-tuned to facts and happenings in the world of dogs right? I leave you with these three words from my own dog. Woof woof and woof!

Pet gift ideas for bargain shoppers
  • Pet Spa Products
If that's the case, consider pet spa products. You can find a number of pet spa products online, like all-natural shampoos, spritzes, soaps and moisturizing paw rubs. If you're worried that a scented product would attract bugs or fleas, especially outside, look for ones that use citronella oil, which will repel bugs. You can even find dog gift sets that come with a selection of spa products, and they're usually pretty reasonable, between $30 and $50.
  • Heated Water Bowl
If your friends worry about keeping their dog's water unfrozen now that it's winter, look at getting a heated water bowl as a pet gift. You don't need to worry about it heating a dog's water to boiling, but it will keep it from freezing over every night, which will make life easier for both dog and owner. You can usually find them for about $35.

Pet gift ideas for mid-ranged shoppers
Do your friends or family members have pets that are older or sick? A great gift for these pets would be a heated bed, which you can find in a variety of types and sizes. Some are just heated pads with a cover, while others are thickly padded mats with a removable heating unit. Those are usually machine-washable as well, which will make them much easier to keep clean, an ideal trait in any pet gift.
