Get Back Your Dog's Bark With Honey and Garlic

So I woke up one morning and heard a stranger sound outside. It sounded like a lion trying to roar but had half a gazelle stuck in his throat. My dog seemed to be having some difficulty, he just could not bark and was just making a horrible sound like glass stuck in his throat and he was trying to cough it up. If you ever experience anything like this with your dog, here are a few basic things you should probably do first before a vet visit.
Look Inside Your Dogs Mouth
You will need to open your dogs mouth and use a flashlight to see down your dogs throat to see if he has any foreign object stuck anywhere down there.  Check to see if there are any signs of cut, blood or swellings. If you see any foreign object I would advice you to not try and pry out the object if you are unsure how deep the object is embedded as you may end up hurting the dog even more. a vet visit is necessary.

Verify That Your Dog can Swallow
Give your dog some fresh water and see how he reacts to it. If he refuses the water then give him a few doggy treats and observe how he swallows. if he cries out or whimpers when swallowing you know he is in pain and will probably need to see a vet right away. If he chows down the food you can handle the situation a bit more mildly.
If inside your dog throats looks OK, he may probably have an infected Larynx and you can do a bit of home remedy therapy to help bring back your dog's bark. One simple yet effective one i have used so far is Garlic and Honey mix.

Here is what you will need and what you need to do.
  • Get two pegs of garlic
  • Three tablespoons of honey

  1. Cut up the garlic and to 1/2 liter boiling water for about 5 minutes.
  2. Pour out garlic water and set to cool.
  3. Add three tablespoons of honey and stir.
Garlic has natural antibiotic properties and is capable of fighting many infections.

Honey is a medical marvel with its many beneficial properties which includes:
  • Anti-bacterial, anti-fungal, anti-fungal.
  • Reduce cough and throat irritation.
  • Prevent cancer and heart disease. Honey contains flavonoids, antioxidants which help reduce the risk of some cancers and heart disease.

Pour into your dogs water bowl and watch him sup it up. He will drink it because of the sweet honey taste. Give the dog this for the most 3-4 days. If you do not see any improvement, just visit the vet.

Lawn Fertilizer May Be Harmful To Your Dog

Dog on Lawn
Everyone loves dogs, and if for some crazy reason you don't you need to get a check up. But aside from loving dogs, we also like a nice green insect free lawn. A lawn where you can spread out a blanket and pop out your kindle and read one of the best selling doggy eBooks.  But lawns normally just don't grow green and lush i residential areas without the home owner giving it a little boost.  That boost they give the lawn is called fertilizer. Fertilizers can harm your dog and have harmed other animals that came in direct contact with it.

We have all seen the commercial fertilizing trucks with the pictures of pets and children on the side. Do not be misled by the images fertilizer can be poisonous to children and pets. There is a reason why when they finished there is a "keep off the grass" sign left behind reminding people that the lawn has been fertilized and to stay off for about an hour.

There are two ways to fertilize your grass, liquid fertilizer that is sprayed on and the chemical of choice for most commercial companies or dry fertilizer which most do-it-yourselfers use. Commercial companies do offer this dry type of fertilizer but you have to ask for it.

Although companies say that after an hour pets and children are safe the time for safety is more like 24 hours. Liquid fertilizer is by far more harmful because you cannot see it on your dog when they roll around the grass, as dogs normally lick their paws and clean him or herself, ingesting the fertilizer will cause harm.

Dry fertilizer, although it can be seen should your dog roll around, it will work its way between toes and can be easily digested when they clean their paws. Once the dry chemical is watered into the lawn your dog is good to go.

The best way to handle the safety of your pets is to keep them off fertilized grass until it has been watered in. If you use a commercial company request dry granular fertilizer instead of the liquid chemical, when you arrive home look for the sign they leave behind. If your lawn was treated plan on taking your dog for a walk to relieve him or herself instead of allowing them on the grass.

Bathing Your Dog Outdoors - My Little Beast

11/1/2016

Bath time for my dogs is always something i look forward to, even though my dogs don't. It is a time i get to wet them from head to nail. Lather them with dog shampoo laced with tick and flea killer. Clip and brush away dead hair. I prefer to bath my dogs outdoor because dogs will shake when they are wet as a way to get water out of their coat. And when they do it can get really messy. So giving your dog a bath outback can be pretty ideal if you have a yard with open space around it.
The clip below is just a small section of me bathing one of my dogs. The smallest one actually. I bath her first because she is the only one that runs to the water when it is bath time. The others either hide behind the car or try to stay very quiet and out of sight! So what i normally do is to trick them with the sound of food. I pour some doggy treats in their feeding bowls and give it a couple shakes. Then when they hear the sound of the food rattling in the bowl they run come to investigate and then ....GOTCHA....Bath time baby!
