Dog Characteristics
Have you ever wondered how animals are classified? Who puts what in which group and why are the animals classified as how they are? You have so many classification of animals. I am really not looking at the scientific classification, (The domestic dog is a member of genus Canis that forms part of the wolf-like canids, and is the most widely abundant carnivore.....wickipedia) but the general name type given to these animals. But this specif article is going to look at what classifies an animal as a dog. I know some of you have already started guessing in your head, well, I did the same thing when the question popped up while petting my two dogs Nica and Venom.

Venom, the bigger dog is mixed with rottweiler and Labrador. You could call the mix rottlab or labrott. Whatever makes your day. My other dog is a much smaller dog, a mix breed poodle and a shihtzu. Well, you could call her a shipoo, shihtzoopoo, pootzu, what ever really makes your day.  I sit and carefully observe their movements, character and general similarities and have come up with the list below which I believe is suppose to be the general traits in classifying an animal as a dog.
Dog Characteristics
4. Distinctive Personality - If you are a dog owner or handler you will notice this easily. It is as though dogs are part human.

Dog Characteristics

1. Bark Sound - The distinctive bark is a trait of all dogs, whether the dog is big, small, or of a particular breed.

2. Panting - It is obviously noticeable that no matter what, cool or hot. Dogs will pant.  They pant when they are excited, hot or even exhausted. There are other animals that pant, such as large cats. But no animal pants as much as dogs.

3. Tail Wagging - Tell me another animal which wags its tail as often as a dog and I will give you a million dollars for each. Dogs wag their tails to match how they feel. Please note that cows swatting flies with their tail is not considered wagging. Some goats however will wag their tails when being fed.
Well, that is as just amount of traits which I can pick out of my head to classify an animal as a dog. What do you think? What do you see that may be more unique to dogs than any other animal. Comment below.
