How To Make a Lazy Dog Active

Lazy DogDogs Laying Down
Is your dog looking rather lazy these days? Does he/she simply lounges around the home in your favorite pajamas and watch soap operas? Do you find yourself lifting your mutt to take him to the bathroom, or opening your dog’s mouth to feed? Are you running faster than your dog and retrieving the Frisbee yourself when you shout fetch? If you are experiencing any of these, chances are that your dog is not ill, but downright lazy. And you begin to wonder just why is your dog so lazy. Well, some dogs may not be as active as some, but most dogs pretty much love a run now and then and they certainly love spending that time with their dog pal, you. So what can you do to make your dog active again if he/she becomes too lazy to even eat? Well, let us look at few techniques you can use to make your dog zap out of laziness.

1. Introduce Your Dog to a New Environment
Take your dog driving and find a new yet suitable environment where your dog has not been before. Just don’t go letting your dog out in any bear infested woods. Chances are a bear will spot him and turn him into an “hot-dog.” Take your pooch to a beach, Dog Park or someplace interesting. Different things can be good stimulants and this just maybe the zap of energy your dog needs to become active again by running, barking and playing with other dogs.

2. Give Your Dog Some Natural Energy Boost
Not every dog food is packed with real proteins needed for your dog to lead a fit, active and healthy life style. Dogs not fed right become small, weak and eventually docile. Their activity level will fall like stock prices and they will eventually be lazy dogs.  Ensure that you are giving your canine pal the right foods which will help to boost your dog’s energy level and take it from lazy to active. Your dog’s feet are very important to him. His joints should be pain free to allow him to be very mobile. Remember, the right nutrition is always essential if you want your dog to be energetic and always active.

3. Give the Dog Agility Equipment
Why do so many dog owners when they go out to buy a dog toy they buy some fake bone or little chew ball that the dogs simply sits around all day looking at. This does nothing for your dog and he will eventually grow tired of many of these useless dog toys.  Get your dog agility equipment. These include; simple adjustable jumpers, obstacle walkers, large balls and crawlers.  These items are not only good for agility, but provide a great deal of fun for your dog. One other good thing about agility equipment is that as the dog owner, you too can participate in the activity and get a little exercise doing so.

4. Why These Methods May Not Work on All Dogs
Before you go blasting off and putting on sweat pants on your dog, you must first ascertain if the dog is healthy and if not, try to get the dog on good health status before any aggravation.  An unhealthy dog may look or act lazy because he/she is suffering from an underlining illness. This can be the same for dogs who have caught on many years and have developed joint inflammations and other old age factors. Ensure that you give your dog a thorough checkup before your proceed to apply the un-lazy treatment.
