Animal euthanasia: This is a topic that many pet owners hate to talk about because it brings a lot of pain to the owner of the animal. Euthanizing your pet is a very personal decision.  Even though as pet owners,  we wish we had another option other than euthanasia. But we live in a real world with real issues, which eventually have to be addressed no matter how painful the outcome.

Possible reasons To Euthanize Your Dog

Your dog is suffering constant unbearable pain.
  • Fifty percent of dogs over the age of 10 develop cancer at some point. They may develop malignant lymphoma, which is a tumor of the lymph nodes,  mast cell tumors, which is a form of skin cancer. There are mammary gland tumors, or breast cancer, and soft tissue sarcomas Just like us human beings, dogs may develop physical complications due to certain types of illnesses. It is much more difficult for any sick animal to cope with certain level of illness than even us humans. Where as there are certain mass care for us they may not be as many for out pets. If sadly your dog is experiencing such illnesses and medication or operation will not help and your Dog is suffering, the best option is to put your dog to sleep to avoid the animal living in pain until he/she eventually passes away.

Have mauled Someone
  • As much as love our dogs, there are just certain behavior which should not be covered up or condoned. If you have a very aggressive dog and you try to solicit the best care for that animal by giving him dog therapy and many other practices which may help to sooth his temperament and has done so to no avail, you may have to either pound this animal or put it to sleep. Many dog owners have been faced with huge lawsuits due to not taking enough care to see that the aggressive animal is well secured and not able to cause havoc on people and other animals. Some troubled Dogs have been known to attack and kill other dogs and have even mauled innocent people.

Have become mentally unstable
  • Yes, animals do get mad, they can become mentally unstable. What this means is that the animal now is unable to process common thoughts and follow its God given instincts. Dogs can develop neurological diseases which may make them appear mentally insane, even though this too can also be treatable. psychiatrist vets have diagnosed and treat dogs and cats for anxiety problems, phobias, compulsive disorders (similar to OCD), and even aggression. The truth is that many of these animals do respond to medication and treatment while some do not do so well and continue to live with mental breakdown, which may eventually lead to the dogs death.
The choice of putting down your Dog is really up to you, it will be heartbroken to do so, but we have to look also look at the pain and suffering the animal may endure during its illness until it eventually passes away. It maybe a painful decision, but euthanizing your pet may be the right one.
