Before you go run around for glue trying to stuck back your dog's fur on its body, you should know that shedding is natural in dogs. If you dog is an in house dog you will have to deal with this issue often, especially if your dog is a heavy shedder. There are breeds of dogs that do shed much more than other breeds and you should find out how often your particular breed sheds. But just to get you started, here is a list of breeds that shed a lot.
Breeds That Shed The Most
  • Akita.
  • Alaskan Malamute.
  • American Eskimo.
  • Australian Shepherd.
  • Beagle.
  • Belgian Sheepdogs – four different breeds, the Belgian Sheepdog, Belgian Malinois, Belgian Tervuren and the rarest of the four, the Belgian Laekenois.
  • Bernese Mountain Dog.
  • Border Collie.
Breeds That Shed The Least
  • Affenpinscher.
  • Australian Terrier.
  • Basenji.
  • Bedlington Terrier.
  • Bichon Frise.
  • Bolognese.
  • Border Terrier.
  • Brussels Griffon
How to reduce the shedding
If your dog is a heavy shedder, the best option for you is to periodically comb out your dogs hair to avoid fur all over your home. You can also use dog shampoo with fur and skin nourishment which may strengthen the hair follicles and strands.  Dog shedding is natural and is not something a owner should worry about. But if you see your dog shedding to total baldness then there is some underlying illness. Give your dog natural fish oil and avoid dog foods which may cause any allergic reaction to your dog. Foods high in wheat, corn, barley and rice may cause allergic reactions in your dog. Ensure your dog has plenty pf fresh water and brush coat occasionally.
